The protocol is but around the concept of social consensus - it determines the social value of content and rewards users for creating and curating it

The yup token is awarded as an incentive for participation and for LPs - these can be used for monetary purposes or governance purposes.

Current Experience

It seems that this is mainly a product only with the protocol living as the product’s backend.

App

The app serves as a tool where users can provide their rating on any sort of content they want (tweets, NFTs, Videos, articles, etc) and users can get rewarded for participating (liking/disliking) other’s curations, posting and providing quality opinions, and in turn they get rewarded with yup tokens and an infuence score.

• There is also a web browsers tool allows user to report if they like or dislike a webapp
• The platform has high friction and the UX is not super great - its super confusing to use
  • The platform currently doesn’t look super useable - looks like content curated by the team at the moment and doesn’t have too many active users.

    • wouldn’t be surprised if there is a high churn rate on the app - there are a lot of bugs

    • However, the idea of reputation points and participation points can be useful for other use cases

Protocol

Yup doesn’t have an open source protocol for developers to build on top of - They just have a few APIs and smart contracts available for use.

• The APIs let developers fetch all data from a user as well as a post
  • User: user’s reputation scores, followers, interactions on a post, etc
  • Post: comments, votes, all user interactions on the post
• The main incentive mechanism is a native token and there is also a liquidity pool on both polygon and Ethereum
