Creator/Influencer - Led Strategies
- Use student-athletes as a vehicle to get others to play the game / be engaged within their specific collegiate communities with the game. With the new Fair Pay to Play Act and NCAA change, student-athletes can now get paid as a creator/influencers, and is a channel that is still underrated and has higher ROI.
- Student-Athletes like Chet Holmgren and Collin Gillespie may be a great fit for this.
- Chat with companies that have platforms to connect cos/brands with student-athletes. We can connect you to some platforms like this that have thousands of student-athletes ready to represent brands.
- Utilize the gamer community and in specific, the online fantasy sports communities.
- Creators like Let's Talk FPL (for EPL) or The Fantasy Footballers (NFL) may be great channels to sponsor. You can check rates from other companies to other creators on sites like FYPM.
- Scout out potential partnerships with creators within the space, like Ben Crellin with @FFH_HQ. Twitter is where they’re usually most active and engaged with their followers.
Tik Tok Campaigns
- Tik Tok Campaigns can be a vital utility for growth within the startup ecosystem and many cos. Though it may be harder due to some previous crypto companies not being able to post content on Tik Tok, getting one viral video can lead to thousands of DAUs. Especially for web3 companies, having a super intuitive way of showcasing your platform = more users.
- Through some user interviews, it seems like most of the gen z demographic interested in fantasy sports is on Tik Tok, especially on game day.
- We would focus on bringing out the P2E message - earn money for playing Fantasy, there’s only an upside, no downside, you don’t lose anything (without it seeming like a scam). For this, you need to maximize for authenticity as that’s also what lot’s of gen z ‘s value (think Emma Chamberlain vs the Kardashians)
- Create a company Tik Tok account and hire a contracted tik tok creator (they will only need to understand how to create content, not distribute it or have social capital themselves, though this will help. Create 10-15 versions of videos by posting organically and seeing which videos do best in terms of both reach and CTA. Put performance marketing budget behind the one(s) that do best.
- Some Examples from consumer-focused startups:
Snapchat Campaigns / Snap kit
- Snapchat Campaigns like these have worked well with other Fantasy Sports platforms: https://forbusiness.snapchat.com/inspiration/fanduel-drives-full-funnel-success-using-a-multi-product-strategy-on
- It may be beneficial to check out Snap Kit: https://kit.snapchat.com/
- Lots of consumer-facing companies have used this to reach hyper-growth in earlier stages. E.g Octi.
- Able to reach millions of snap chat consumers who are within your target audience. Previous fantasy sports companies have used this as well.
- Snap Kit allows users to engage with the ad/content and therefore leads to more engagement and better-vertical users.
- Great for phone-native campaigns e.g better for a CTA of downloading an app, so may be better to use / higher ROI for app launch.
Reddit
Strategies like piggy-backing/going viral in subreddits and hosting AMA’s may work well:
- Piggy-backing/going viral in subreddits
- How to find a subreddit:
- Choose a blog/domain that shares the same target audience you’re going to reach.
- In the URL line, type reddit.com/domain/the domain you want to check.
- Look for posts that are relevant to your topic which preformed well, and check what sub-Reddit they were submitted to.
- Piggybacking/Virality
- Sort for reach and relevance in topic/subreddit and see what content goes viral, what pain points there are, and what questions people have. cater content to such.
- Hosting AMA’s
- As mentioned by Ryan Holiday, a good Reddit’s AMA session “can generate hundreds of thousands of impressions and drive fans into frenzy. It can reinvigorate an established persona or hoist a completely obscure or unusual person into the Internet spotlight”.
- An AMA is essentially an ask me anything via a Reddit thread format (with upvotes, etc...).
- How to do this:
- Go to: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/
- Write an informative eye-catching description of who you are in the title.
- Write a short and to-the-point bio.
- Provide proof that you are who you say you are, having real expertise and value.
